What services do we at Home Thoughts provide? Put in a better way, what would you as the customer like us to provide? We understand that individuals and families have very different needs and we tailor our services accordingly. Having said that, there are common concerns with all relocations and so we have detailed a few of the main areas where you may want our assistance.

Information Book

Anyone making use of our services will be provided with our information book, Living in Montreal. The people at Home Thoughts love Montreal and this upbeat feeling is conveyed throughout the book which is writtten in a colloquial manner and is intended to reassure the executive and his family about the coming move. It is packed with detailed insider information about housing and schools and covers legal documentation such as drivers' licenses and Medicare. Last but not least it covers day-to-day living and having a good time in Montreal for singles, couples and the whole family.

A Quiet Word

Often the 'significant other' of an executive is the one who needs that extra bit of reassurance that relocation to Montreal is a positive move. We can talk to the executive and his family answering their queries and providing the reassurance that can only come from someone who once experienced the same doubts themselves and is now more than happy with the relocation.

Accommodation and Schools

These two really go hand in hand; the position of one greatly affects your choice of the other. We can discuss with the families their housing and schooling needs and preferences. Once possible neighborhoods have been agreed on the relocation assistant will set about finding suitable accommodation and schools that have current vacancies. The findings will be forwarded for the consideration of the family and viewings and interviews organized for when they visit Monrteal. This is probably the most stressful part of any move and where help of the right sort is really valuable.

The Orientation Visit

In our experience, orientation visits are often poorly organized with the family not sure where to go and what to do. A classic example is of a family arriving mid-march in the middle of a snowstorm lacking warm weather clothing when all the schools are closed for the two-week spring break and the vendors of potential homes are in Florida on holiday. Our aim is to make sure that this does not happen. Before the visit, the relocation assistant assigned to the family will contact them to determine what their priorities are for that visit, usually schools and houses. The family will be met at the airport, taken to their hotel and accompanied for the duration of their stay in Montreal, as required. We can also arrange the use of our own trusted babysitters to look after children who would rather go to a jungle gym than go house hunting with their parents.

The Move Proper

The family will be met at the airport by their personal relocation assistant and taken to their residence. We will ensure that there is food and drink waiting for them in their new home. Over the course of the following few weeks the family needs to obtain the essential paperwork such as Medicare cards, social insurance numbers, driving licenses and to visit car dealerships. We can accompany them on these visits if they wish. A list of essential phone numbers for local services such as plumbers, builders, doctors, dentists etc will be provided. All the services recommended will be tried and tested by our assistants and not merely picked out of the Yellow Pages.

After Move TLC

The assistant will explain the merits of the various supermarkets, shopping malls, gymnasiums etc and accompany the family on visits as required. The important thing is that the assistant will always be on the end of the phone to answer questions during those first tough weeks and indeed throughout the entire period of the stay in Montreal.

Tailormade Services

Whatever level of service the client wishes to have can be arranged, from a reassuring chat to a fully escorted orientation visit complete with an accommodation and school search followed by post-move TLC. At Home Thoughts we know that every family has different needs and we are supremely flexible to suit those needs.
